KENDRICK JOHNSON BODY TO BE EXHUMED

It’s amazing to me how many “ear to the ground” folks I know have spent so much time posting about Beyoncé but still aren’t spreading awareness about Kendrick Johnson. This 17 year old black boy was killed on school grounds in Valdosta Georgia and everyone from the school to the cops to the coroner to the funeral home to the media is complicit in the cover up. CNN has been the only news outlet that has followed the story and tried to get the family some answers.

HELLO PEOPLE. His black body is symbolic of how we as black people are seen. THEY FILLED HIS BODY WITH NEWSPAPER! Look at his face! They tried to say he only suffocated?! How when he looks like Emmet Till? If you can post about how wonderful Beyoncé is or anything else THEN SURELY you can share this story and spread awareness.

The coverup is only working because people aren’t informed. The more people know, the more pressure can be put on the town. The US Attorney and FBI are involved but it’s not enough. Where are his rallies? His songs? His poems? Why is his image not being shared across the country? Across the world? Where is the outrage?! Oh my god. Bless his soul.

Oh my fuck. They removed brains and other organs and filled him with newspaper and school authorities are still trying to convince people it was a freak accident.

WTF

Here’s some horrifying facts:

*his body, when recovered, had all organs removed so a second autopsy couldn’t determine cause of death

*he was found rolled up in a gym mat between benches

*camera footage has been tampered with, so there is no recording of the gym or the entrances to tell who entered (but suspiciously were active just long enough to show the victim entering)

*school has been late with all requested information

this is not fucking okay

QUOTES

“At the time I was arrested, I had no idea it would turn into this. It was just a day like any other day. The only thing that made it significant was that the masses of the people joined in.”

Civil Rights Pioneer

Famed civil rights activist Rosa Parks was born Rosa Louise McCauley on February 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Alabama. Her refusal to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a public bus Montgomery, Alabama, spurred on a citywide boycott and helped launch nationwide efforts to end segregation of public facilities.

Early Life and Education

Rosa Parks’s childhood brought her early experiences with racial discrimination and activism for racial equality. After her parents separated, Rosa’s mother moved the family to Pine Level, Alabama to live with her parents, Rose and Sylvester Edwards—both former slaves and strong advocates for racial equality; the family lived on the Edwards’ farm, where Rosa would spend her youth. In one experience, Rosa’s grandfather stood in front of their house with a shotgun while Ku Klux Klan members marched down the street.

Taught to read by her mother at a young age, Rosa went on to attend a segregated, one-room school in Pine Level, Alabama, that often lacked adequate school supplies such as desks. African-American students were forced to walk to the 1st- through 6th-grade schoolhouse, while the city of Pine Level provided bus transportation as well as a new school building for white students.

Through the rest of Rosa’s education, she attended segregated schools in Montgomery, including the city’s Industrial School for Girls (beginning at age 11). In 1929, while in the 11th grade and attending a laboratory school for secondary education led by the Alabama State Teachers College for Negroes, Rosa left school to attend to both her sick grandmother and mother back in Pine Level. She never returned to her studied; instead, she got a job at a shirt factory in Montgomery.

In 1932, at age 19, Rosa met and married Raymond Parks, a barber and an active member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. With Raymond’s support, Rosa earned her high school degree in 1933. She soon became actively involved in civil rights issues by joining the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP in 1943, serving as the chapter’s youth leader as well as secretary to NAACP President E.D. Nixon—a post she held until 1957.

Ordered to the Back of the Bus

The Montgomery City Code required that all public transportation be segregated and that bus drivers had the “powers of a police officer of the city while in actual charge of any bus for the purposes of carrying out the provisions” of the code. While operating a bus, drivers were required to provide separate but equal accommodations for white and black passengers by assigning seats. This was accomplished with a line roughly in the middle of the bus separating white passengers in the front of the bus and African-American passengers in the back

George Zimmerman to fight rapper DMX in celebrity boxing bout

George Zimmerman will fight DMX in a celebrity boxing match, a promoter says.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • The organizer is self-described opportunist Damon Feldman
  • He says he picked DMX from more than 15,000 offers

(CNN) — Let’s get ready to … mumble.

As in, what now, George Zimmerman?

Seems like the former neighborhood watchman has found yet another way to remain in the public limelight.

This time, he’ll be stepping into a boxing ring to fight rapper DMX.

Photos: Celebrity mugshotsPhotos: Celebrity mugshots

Zimmerman said the celebrity boxing match was his idea. Boxing was his hobby, he told Radar Online last month, even prior to the “incident.”

The incident, of course, is the February 2012 encounter in which he shot dead an unarmed Trayvon Martin, 17. He stood trial for murder, but was acquitted.

“Prior to the incident, I was actually going to the gym for weight loss and doing boxing-type training for weight loss,” he told Radar.

“A mutual friend put me in contact with Damon and provided me with an opportunity and motivation to get back in shape and continue with my weight loss goals and also be able to help a charity out.”

Damon is Damon Feldman, owner of Celebrity Boxing and self-described opportunist, whose claim to fame is putting together bizarre matchups. Think Tonya Harding, Michael Lohan.

He said last week that he was accepting offers for someone to step into the ring for a three-round, pay-per-view fight with Zimmerman.

“The news has been out for an hour and my e-mail is overloaded with 8,000 people wanting to fight George,” Feldman told CNN on Thursday.

Early Wednesday morning, he said he’s picked the contender. Out of more than 15,000 e-mailed requests, he’s going with DMX.

“The match will be one of the Biggest Celebrity Boxing matches of all time,” his news release said (uppercase emphasis his).

But in order to find out where and when it will take place, we’ll have to wait until next week.

DMX, as we know is a rapper, and braggadocio is his calling card.

He’s out for blood, he told TMZ. Not only will he break every rule in boxing, he said, he’ll “beat the living (expletive)” out of Zimmerman.

Ian Karmel, a writer for “Chelsea Lately,” has a better idea.

“They should send Floyd Mayweather to the ring and tell George Zimmerman it’s DMX,” he tweeted. “He won’t know the difference.”

Charlotte Bobcats’ 2014 Trade Deadline Shopping List

The fact that the Charlotte Bobcats are clinging to a playoff seed in the Eastern Conference is not much to hang your hat on, but the fact that they are buyers at the trade deadline is truly great to see.

For the first time in the franchise’s brief yet agonizing history, Charlotte heads into the trade deadline as a team actively looking to acquire more talent instead of kicking assets to the curb like an estate sale.

When the front office made the surprising splash and landed Al Jefferson this past offseason, another year of tanking was just never in the cards. Charlotte is still hanging on to the eighth seed in the East long after it was widely assumed that they would mail it in.

In a league so heavily influenced by free agency, there is always a large handful of players to be had. Charlotte has no shortage of options when it comes to potential trade candidates.

As far as trade chips, Charlotte has up to three first-rounders in the loaded 2014 draft. They also have the $13.2 million expiring deal of Ben Gordon, a piece that they would be flat out stupid not to move.

The team is in a tricky situation due to the lack of potential superstars on the market. While they must make a move to bolster the roster moving forward, the Cats cannot compromise their future or make a move simply for the sake of creating headlines.

Let’s examine some of the potential options and areas of need for the soon-to-be Hornets.

Heat Trade Rumors Tracker: Latest Updates Ahead of 2014 NBA Trade Deadline

Heat Trade Rumors Tracker: Latest Updates Ahead of 2014 NBA Trade Deadline

Jason DeCrow/Associated Press

The Miami Heat are not impenetrable. They are not the same juggernaut that, unrestrained from the “ain’t won nothing” shackles that dogged their first and second seasons together, blitzed the league to the tune of 66 wins and one of the most memorable NBA championship runs in league history.

As of publication, Miami sits at 34-13 and three games behind rivalIndiana for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Because of the invisible line in the middle of the United States separating competent basketball from widespread incompetence, the Heat will still be rewarded with the No. 2 seed and have home-court advantage until the Eastern Finals.

Some of these so-called struggles are by design. Dwyane Wade has missed 13 games, almost entirely eschewing back-to-backs and missing other stretches to rest his oft-injured knees. Erik Spoelstra has tinkered with the team’s well-documented attacking defensive style, dropping his bigs back inside the three-point line on pick-and-rolls at times. Those changes have helped ingratiate Greg Oden as a regular rotational cog, after more than four years on the sidelines.

Some of the struggles are just attributable to this being a veteran team that knows April, May and June are the only three months on its calendar. This has always been a roster equipped with a proverbial on/off switch.

Some of the struggles, though, speak to deeper and possibly crippling problems come that quarter-year stretch. Miami is 14th in defensive efficiency as of Feb. 4 and is trending backward. Opponents scored107.4 points per 100 possessions against the Heat in January, which would rank just better than Utah‘s league-worst rate over the course of the season.

Players seem lost in space, lazy in rotations and perpetually unwilling to get back in transition. Miami’s rotations, damn near perfect when everything is working in rhythm, have been loose and, at times, baffling. Bigs and wings are miscommunicating switches on the perimeter, and the Heat’s style has always been prone to allow an open shot or two. Grantland’s Zach Lowe did a nice job of highlighting some of the biggest glaring flaws last month.

The Heat will likely ratchet up the intensity and concentration once the playoffs begin, but some of these mistakes are happening due to roster construction. The Big Three era has been highlighted by veteran role players stepping up, taking less money and performing admirably when placed next to the three stars.

This year, those players haven’t performed as well—and the results show. So with only a few weeks remaining before the NBA’s trade deadline, Miami is very likely to explore making subtle changes to its bench.

Bulls Trade Rumors Tracker: Latest Updates Ahead of 2014 NBA Trade Deadline

Bulls Trade Rumors Tracker: Latest Updates Ahead of 2014 NBA Trade Deadline

Rich Pedroncelli/Associated Press

The Chicago Bulls’ hopes for competing as a power in the Eastern Conference were gashed early in the NBA season, but the team is still in playoff contention and is looking to make moves to improve in the future.

The loss of Derrick Rose back in late November turned Chicago’s season from one of hope to just another one spent waiting for its superstar to return.

Though it might not actually come to fruition if the Bulls decide to play it safe again, coach Tom Thibodeau said there is potential for Rose to return for a playoff run, according to Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times:

I don’t want to jump to any conclusions, just going step-by-step. When he handles the next phase, then they’ll move him on to the next one. Just make sure he’s completely healthy, that’s all we’re thinking about.

With those hopes now hanging in the balance, the Bulls are in an interesting position. They are a playoff team while also looking at the possibility of freeing up space to sign a max player in the offseason like Carmelo Anthony, who reportedly has Chicago high on his list, per Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

While the talks of Anthony and a Rose return hang in the balance, there are still several trades the Bulls could possibly make before the trade deadline officially ends on Feb. 20.

Here are the most recent trade headlines as they become available.
