Must Read: Fed Employees Rollout A Bold Idea To Trap The Entire Country’s Wealth

Free market economists are not going to be happy about this…

A major financial news source just published shocking details about a research report by two employees at the Federal Reserve Bank. The 36-page report applauds the use of “capital controls” in global markets.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term “capital controls,” it’s probably because we tend to avoid them in the United States in favor of a free market economy.

Capital controls are simply laws that regulate and restrict what you are allowed to do with your money by regulating the flow of cash in and out of a national economy. The laws define such things as where you can invest your cash and how you can allocate your assets.

If you take a look around the globe, you’ll see several recent example—almost always from countries experiencing a currency crisis:

  • In Cyprus…some citizens cannot withdraw or write checks for more than €300 per day from their own accounts. These controls were put in place after the Greek debt crisis of 2012 and are set to continue until year-end.
  • In Iceland…capital controls imposed in 2008 have blockaded offshore investors from selling $7.2 billion in assets.
  • In Argentina…citizens must pay an extra tax on vacations abroad.
  • In the Ukraine…recent tensions sparked a series of capital controls. Ukrainians must wait six working days before making any type of foreign currency purchases. In addition, they cannot exchange more than the equivalent of $5,800 USD within a given time period.

You might be wondering… how are these draconian laws “a useful tool for managing financial stability” as the recent Fed paper says?

Well, the Fed research claims that capital controls would protect the U.S. dollar from the effects of rapid cash movements…

Of course, the only countries that are worried about capital controls are those deeply worried about a currency crisis.

According to Steve Hanke, a professor of applied economics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, “Capital controls signal that a country is very worried about preserving its foreign exchange….That means bad things are in the wind.”

For more than 50 years, Americans have never really thought twice about the value of our currency.

But times are rapidly changing. And most Americans don’t realize that the greatest weapon in our nation’s arsenal is not our military might or our education system, but the simple fact that the U.S. dollar is the world’s “reserve currency.” As such, our money forms the basis of the global financial system. And banks around the world hold our dollars in reserve against their loans.

That’s why, for the past few decades, we have been able to print and borrow trillions of dollars, with no real negative impact.

We are the only country in the world that does not have to pay for imports in a foreign currency. We can rack up enormous debts and then print more money.

But this exorbitant privilege could soon expire, because many of the most powerful countries around the world (including China and Russia) are looking for a new world reserve currency.

And when the U.S. dollar is no longer the world’s reserve currency… when we can no longer print money and borrow absurd sums without consequence– we are in trouble.

One financial guru, Porter Stansberry, believes this currency collapse in America is actually going to happen much sooner than most people think. He says that’s how currency collapses happen… gradually… slowly… then all of a sudden. And Mr. Stansberry has an uncanny track record of predicting some of the biggest moves in the economy over the past decade. In 2006 he announced GM would go bankrupt and in 2007 he predicted Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would also soon go bankrupt. Both of his predictions came to fruition.

WATCH: Learn more from Porter Stansberry, here.

Now Stansberry says the next big collapse could be America’s currency. And even though most Americans think this could never happen… not here…Stansberry believes new laws set to go in place on July 1st 2014 will dramatically accelerate this process.

What is this law that was secretly passed by the Obama Administration… and how will it affect you, your money, and the U.S. dollar?

Stansberry and his Baltimore-based research team have put together a free slide presentation that explains everything you need to know. Get the facts and protect yourself here.

‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ to Begin Filming in May

The film will be set 30 years after the events of “Return of the Jedi,” Disney and Lucasfilm announced Tuesday.

Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII will begin filming in May and will be set 30 years after the events in 1983′s Return of the Jedi.

“There will be some very familiar faces along with a trio of new young leads,” said Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger during Disney’s annual shareholder’s meeting in Portland, Ore.

The film, to be directed by J.J. Abrams, is set for release on Dec. 18, 2015. It will shoot primarily in London at Pinewood Studios.

The film has been shrouded in secrecy, but it was recently reported that Adam Driver is in talks to play an undisclosed villain and a slew of names have been reported as in meetings for the three new lead roles.
“Rumor has it that almost every actor in the world has been cast in this movie, but so far, the official castmember that we’ve confirmed — the only one — is R2D2,” said Iger on the call.

The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o met with J.J. Abrams only a few weeks ago. Several sources say that Jesse Plemons is one of the actors to beat for one of the roles and that British actors Ed Speleers and John Boyega are also in the mix.

Loss Of Unemployment Benefits Has Now Cost Almost $5 Billion As Congress Dithers

image

The Senate took a small step toward passing a short-term restoration of lapsed unemployment benefits on Thursday night as six Republicans crossed the aisle to help Democrats break a filibuster of the package. The narrow procedural vote underscores how slowly Congress has responded to this self-inflicted economic wound, as states have now lost out on almost $5 billion in economic activity since the federal safety net for the long-term jobless evaporated in December.
Thursday’s vote was the third time that Republicans have attempted to filibuster the measure. With that blockade broken, the bill is expected to pass the upper chamber on Monday. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) seems poised to kill the package, which he calls “unworkable.” Yet the bill does as little as possible from the perspective of those who rely upon federal assistance as their job hunts stretch out longer beyond the six months of coverage that state unemployment insurance offers.
In mid March, with 10 weeks’ worth of jobless aid checks already missing for more than 2 million job seekers, senators announced a compromise to reinstate the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program for just five months. The deal was retroactive to December 28, when the program expired. While retroactive payments could be priceless for beneficiaries, the short-term nature of the deal means that the program will lapse all over again at the end of May. Given that the compromise has taken more than two weeks to clear filibuster hurdles, and that the House appears ready to slow it down even further, it seems as though legislators will end up resolving this self-made problem for just a few weeks before the extension itself ends.
There are nearly 2.3 million people who would be receiving EUC checks if the program hadn’t lapsed. That number grows by 72,000 each week as people max out their state-level benefits and turn to the feds for further help. In addition to the millions of direct recipients, there are at least 2.3 million children who depend upon parents who rely on EUC. The failure to restore the program therefore harms over 4.5 million people’s wellbeing directly, and many more indirectly through reduced economic activity due to EUC recipients having less money to spend.
Those economic losses total $4.7 billion nationwide, according to a report this week from the Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee. The EUC program has one of the better economic multiplier effects of any federal program, generating over $1.50 in economic activity for every dollar the government spends.
Depriving these people of their safety net does nothing to improve their job prospects. For one thing, there are about 2.5 people job hunting for every job opening available. That makes for stiff competition for even those who are just a few weeks out of work, let alone those who have been unemployed for far longer. Hiring managers typically view long stints of joblessness as disqualifying, and the longer a person is out of a job the harder it is to get an interview for a new position. Those problems don’t go away just because Congress shrinks a job-seeker’s food and rent budget, and making it harder for those people to keep their phone and internet bills current only makes it harder to hunt for jobs.

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Benzino has been shot, TMZ reports. The reality star and former owner of The Source magazine was gunned down while headed to his mother’s funeral. He is currently in the hospital and his condition is unknown.

Benzino was reportedly driving in the funeral procession for his late mother when an argument among family members led to shots being fired. Sources in law enforcement say an arrest has already been made. Remarkably, despite the former rapper and magazine publisher being rushed to the hospital, the funeral continued as planned. According to the preacher, both the hearse and the limo were stained with blood when they arrived at the plot.

Benzino, born Raymond Scott, was co-publisher of The Source since its inception as a single-sheet newsletter in 1988, and was also a founding member of the rap group Made Men.

Hopefully he will make a speedy recovery.

What started Short’s altercation with the fellow partygoer?

The guest allegedly made a comment saying, “You might be richer than me but I get my girls to buy me everything I want including your wife.”

The injured party was taken to the hospital while Short allegedly left the bar quickly — and now law enforcement officials are apparently investigating the incident as criminal battery.

According to TMZ, the ABC’s star’s short fuse this month was not the first time he has publicly disputed with someone.

Back in March 2010, he reportedly used his fist power to punch a guy during a game of basketball at L.A. Fitness and knocked his teeth out.

The victim’s 12-year-old son, Saury, and 8-year-old daughter, April, also crumbled at their mother’s side. The young boy tried to make sense of the senseless.

“I’m 12, he’s 14. He was too small to be around a gun like that,” Saury said. “My dad would still be alive right now . . .”

Rojas uprooted his family from their native Dominican Republic and came to America four years ago in search of a better life that didn’t come easy.

Rashun Robinson, 28, was leaving through the back door of the B46 bus on Empire Blvd. in Crown Heights at about 5 p.m. when he was caught by Li.

The ex-con and reputed Bloods member was determined to dodge jail time at any cost and opened fire while running from the bus, police said.

Mom says she was target, too in NJ tot creek death

By WAYNE PARRY
Associated Press

FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) – The mother of a 2-year-old girl whose body was found in a New Jersey creek, still strapped into her car seat, says she fears the girl’s father would have killed all three of them had she gone along too.

Imani Benton testified Thursday in the trial of Arthur Morgan III. A jailhouse letter Morgan sent her after his arrest said he wished she had gone with him and 2-year-old Tierra Morgan-Glover to the movies the day their daughter died.

The letter says the plan that November 2011 day was “to go as a family.” Benton testified she believes that meant Morgan would have killed her, the girl, and himself.

Tierra was found submerged in a park creek. Morgan’s lawyer indicated his client would not deny responsibility for the girl’s death.
